Baro sarpanch was allegedly assaulted and later stripped and molested by two persons, who were said to be brothers, on a road on Friday evening.
The duo was also alleged to have robbed her of gold ornaments by brandishing a revolver. The injured sarpanch lodged an FIR at Nikirai police station on late Friday night, said IIC Kiran Hembram.According to police sources, on Friday evening one Arjuna Palai, a dealer of Baro area, came with his brother Anadi Palai to the house of the victim on inquiring about cancellation of his dealership. An altercation erupted between them, resulting in the duo attacking the sarpanch.
Acting on victim’s FIR, Nikirai police on Friday registered a case.On the other hand, Palais have also lodged an FIR against the victim alleging that her family members beat them. The police also registered a case. The police yet again registered a case against victim and her supporters for illegally staging road blockade at Baro chowk on Cuttack-Chandabali road o Friday evening.
