A 24-year-old woman, who was recently separated from her husband, was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her rented accommodation in Duggal Colony of South Delhi’s Neb Sarai area in the wee hours of Saturday. Police said the motive was not clear as investigations were on to identify the killer.
The deceased has been identified as Simran, alias Aarti. Police said Simran, who got married to Sunny two-three years ago, was living alone in a rented flat in Neb Sarai after she was separated from her husband recently. Police are scanning the movements of her estranged husband.
Preliminary investigation suggests that she died after her throat was slit, said senior cops. Police said they received a call around 6:30 am from neighbours that a foul smell was emanating from her flat.
“We received a call saying that foul smell was coming out from the deceased’s home. We immediately sent a police team to the spot,” said the police official. The team of police personnel from the Neb Sarai police station found that the woman was lying on the floor of her flat. Her body was taken to a nearby hospital. Police have informed the deceased’s parents who live in the Mandawali area of East Delhi.
“We have sent the body for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, we are questioning family members of both the girl and her husband Sunny,” said the police official.
Police registered a case under relevant Sections of the IPC at the Neb Sarai Police station and have started further investigations in the matter.
