Nargis Fakhri is back in the limelight with her upcoming film Main Tera Hero, in which she romances Varun Dhawan. The film also features Barfi fame Ileana D’Cruz and is a remake of blockbuster Telugu movie Kandireega.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this multi-starrer. This is my first attempt at a comedy film and I am hoping I do well. It has been a great learning experience working with veteran director David Dhawan. I had a very good time with Varun and Ileana,” Fakhri who was recently in the Capital to judge Veet the Diva fashion show contest and to promote their campaign—Veet Walk with Confidence, tells you.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed this campaign. It was an adventure for all of us. After the fashion show was wrapped up, I along with the 10 finalists and six supermodels travelled by the metro till Chandni Chowk. From there we were ushered into a rickshaw that took us to Red Fort. The major focus of this campaign was to spread the message of empowerment of today’s women. I’m a big fan of working mothers who balance their work and family with such elan. I feel economic independence for a woman is as important as it is for her to be a homemaker,” Fakhri says.
Ask her about her inspiration and she says: “My mom is my hero. Despite being a single mother, she never let me feel lonely and indulged in me like anything. She made sure that I had a good upbringing. She did a fantastic job in managing her work and house simultaneously. My mother also knew how to prioritise every aspect in her life. Her children were always her first love. Everything else came later,” the actress opines. Fakhri dreams of a day when people would recognise and address her mother as ‘superstar Nargis’s mother’.
But Fakhri’s journey in has been quiet a roller coaster. Top it with her courting controversy nature and life has been a living hell. Her presumed relationship status with Uday Chopra has only made Fakhri more determined to treat all rumours at face value and let her work speak for itself. “Bollywood and controversies are interlinked. If I’ll hangout with any of my men friends, people will create such a fuss about it. I have learnt to focus on my work and don’t let gossip bother me. But I am extremely irritated when I am asked to comment on my relationship status in public. It’s like asking what is the colour of my underwear. If and when I get married I am sure people will come to know of it,” she adds.
Known to be a hot tempered girl, Fakhri flares up when you ask her about her new lip job. “People randomly question without knowing what a lip plumper is. This is only a beauty product like a lip gloss and not a cosmetic surgery. I use it because I think it enhances my lips. How the world sees itIJ I don’t care,” Fakhri tells you.
