Castigating Sonia Gandhi for her “silence” over the revelations made in Sanjay Baru’s controversial book, BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the book clearly showed that the Manmohan Singh Government was being “remote-controlled” by the Congress president from 10, Janpath.
Addressing an election rally at Pune in the evening, Modi questioned Sonia’s “silence” over the issues raised in Baru’s book The Accidental Prime Minister: “Why isn’t Madam not answering issues raised in the bookIJ Twenty four hours have passed. Madam Sonia, why are your lips sealedIJ’.
“It (the book) says that ministers were chosen at Madam Soniaji’s place. Departments were allotted at Soniaji’s place. Transfers were done at Madam Soniaji’s house. I had heard of a remote control government, but I came to know from the book that the remote itself was running the government,” Modi said, as he triggered a fresh round of war of words between the Congress and BJP.
Maintaining that Baru’s book clearly demonstrated that the Manomohan Singh dispensation suffered from “governance deficit” owing to its “remote-controlled” functioning, Modi charged that the UPA government had destroyed the Constitutional institutions like the Planning Commission and the CAG.
