Dengue patients and medical staff of Ram Manohar lohia Hospital (RMl) are facing acute shortage of water. Due to increasing number of dengue patients, the four water coolers are unable to fulfil the needs of RMl staff and patients.
According to RMl's senior doctor, administration knew about the water shortage problem, but they did not take appropriate steps. "We have complained to the higher authorities about the water shortage problem, however nothing is done till now. Here poor patients are suffering, who cannot afford to buy water from the market," said the senior resident doctor.
The hospital has four water coolers — not sufficient. "There are four buildings on the campus and each building has only one cooler," said the doctor. Even, in summer the situation is bad, he added.
Forty-five-year-old Ram Prasad’s daughter Pinky (12) is admitted in the dengue ward for the past five days. and every day, he is spending about Rs 80 to buy at least four cans of packed water from the market. A rickshaw puller — residetn of JJ cluster of Kali Bari Marg — he said, "There is no water in the hospital, that's why I am purchasing the packed water from outside."
When contacted senior official of the hospital said, " There is less water supply from the NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council). We are continuously making an effort to solve the water shortage problem very soon.
