Resting deep inside his ‘grave’ the poster boy of pro-Pakistan terrorist outfit, Burhan Wani, continues to inspire more and more radicalised youth to join the ranks of different terror outfits.

Rough estimates suggested after Burhan Wani was killed by a joint team of security forces on July 8, 2016  around 300 local youth have picked up guns.

According to the security forces, the majority of youth hailing from South Kashmir districts of Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and Anantnag  have joined the jehad against the security forces.

The gruesome killing of police constable Javed Ahmed Dar in Shopian is a recent example of revenge killing by the local cadre of militants.

Before this half a dozen local officers of state police and army personnel have been eliminated by the terrorists to spread panic among the local population.

During the recent security review meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with the National Security Advior Ajit Doval in Srinagar senior army and state police officers  have also shared their serious concern over increasing number of local youth joining the ranks of militant outfits and .

To flush out these terrorists when joint teams of security forces launched 'operation all out'  large number of these local militants were neutralised but their funeral processions helped militant handlers coerced vulnerable youth to join the ranks of militant outfits.

A total of 206 terrorists were killed by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir and 75 others were persuaded to shun violence in 2017.

Till June end this year around 105 militants have been neutralised by the security forces and the army authorities have also released a 'hit list' of top 22 commanders.

In majority of cases police investigations have revealed that majority of youth were motivated by their close friends or some turn of events related to killing of hardcore militants in the close vicinity of their villages provoked these youth to take up guns.

According to official sources in the first six month of 2018 more than 50 locals have already joined militancy. Security forces apprehend if the same trend continued the number of local militants this year could cross mark of 100 this year as well.

In 2016 a total number of 88 Kashmiri youth had joined militant ranks in 2016 and 66 in 2015.Similarly, 53 Kashmiri youth had joined militancy in 2014, 16 in 2013, 21 in 2012, 23 in 2011, 54 in 2010.
