Vastu helps connect with inner self

Years of research and thousands of case studies have proved that the space where you live, work or worship help you attain spirituality, writes Dr Khushdeep Bansal

Your connectivity with God, the universe or with your inner self is controlled by your space — it can be your house or your office. In other terms, buildings connect you with God. If you have ever observed, when you go to a temple, you feel a sense of deep peace, a self-revelation. The pyramid-shaped building has always been a place of mystery.

When you visit an old temple or a religious building, you naturally get connected with your higher koshas wherein you get the solutions for your problems. Often you call it God’s blessings. Practically, it is the space chemistry that is altering the thought patterns in your deeper subconscious mind.

Vastu Shastra has demystified the secret why and how temples make you feel connected with your inner self. The answers lie in the architecture of the temple. The space is crafted in such a way that the moment you enter a temple, you enter your own self. So any building that takes you inside your inner self is called a temple. If you break the word mandir, it becomes mann ke andar, which itself clarifies the meaning — the space that takes you on the path of inner journey.

The combination of dimension, proportion, height and crafting of the inner space of a building is so powerful that it immediately affects your mind and your inner space. This is the place where your inner consciousness connects with the universal consciousness.

This very art of crafting spaces into temple-like buildings comes under the branch of Indian architecture known as Vastu Shastra. According to this ancient Indian science, every building has a purpose. Modern architecture has a limited definition of meeting the requirements of aesthetics, the purpose of the building, and functional design of the space.

Whereas, the Vedic architecture — Vastu Shastra — goes beyond it. It works upon fulfilling the purpose of the space. The space is designed in such a way that it manifests the exact purpose of the building.

After diagnosing a site and recognising the earth energies and zonal powers, different kind of divine energy fields are categorised and then it is decided which place is good for management skills, intellectual capabilities, artistic abilities, financial sections and so on.

There are temples that are called laxmi Temples. Actually those temples are made on such energy patterns where you enhance your business capabilities. Your brain gets a reaction of neurons and once they get activated, you start sensing the business functionalities.

The traditional successful businessmen of India, who had never gone to any MBA school, yet their business acumen can fail even Harvard graduates, are a proof of the functionality of the Vastu-perfect buildings.

Connectivity with the God has different meanings for different persons. For some it means going to the temple or religious places and praying, for some others, it means helping needy people, and for some it means sitting in a secluded corner of the house in an effort to make that ultimate connection.

A similar temple-like effect can be created in your house so that you can get connected with your higher self and God. Documented research on Vastu Shastra-MahaVastu has proved that the built-up space around you directly affects your subconscious mind. location of entrance, puja room, colours, lights, paintings, sculptures and interior objects placed in your home play a vital role in your connectivity with God.

Every zone of your home performs a function in your life. Many people who meditate for hours daily may not experience the depth in it. It is mainly because of the imbalance in the North-East Vastu zone in their homes.

As per the directions of alchemy in Vastu Shastra, North-East is the zone of mind. It governs your connectivity with Anadamaya Kosha. North-North-East and East-North-East are the two Vastu zones lying on either side of it. They govern your connectivity with Vigyanmaya and Manomaya Koshas respectively.

If there is an imbalance like shades of pink or red, toilet, store or kitchen in these portions in your home, you can never feel connected with your higher self. And this results in lack of happiness and fulfillment in life.

Similarly, if your puja room is placed in Vastu zone of expenditure and wastage, ie, South-South-West, all your efforts to get connected with your inner self will go waste. You can see that people in such houses devote a lot of time on doing puja daily but they do not get any result out of that.

Because by placing a puja place in the zone of disposal, you are unknowingly communicating to your built-up space that puja or connectivity with God is something that you consider waste in your life. On the other hand, when you place your puja room in North-East Vastu zone, you feel connected with God. Merely placing a symbol of your Ishtadevta will also make you feel connected with him.

The same effect is created when you do meditation while sitting in the North-North-East Vastu zone. It connects you directly with problem-solving kosha — Vigyanmaya Kosha — and you become a solution provider. That power appears due to your connectivity only.

We all can experience that connectivity, all we need is just awareness of the space around us. The energies in our home are shaping our subconscious mind. Then we cannot only feel connected with God but with his blessings create more love, happiness and prosperity in our and others’ lives.
