As announced last year in the wake of Gorakhpur BRD medical college tragedy, BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Saturday  handed over "a new emergency medical wing"  to "the people in Sultanpur", his Parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

"As promised , handed over a new emergency wing equipped with State-of-the-art machines and a trained medial staff  to the people of Sultanpur", the MP tweeted.

Varun had promised such a medical wing for his constituency after 60 children had died in the BRD medical college August last year allegedly due to non-supply of oxygen.

"The new maternity and child-care hospital will be open to the people of the district in a few months", Varun said adding that he would like to continue development work which may render "maximum benefits to the poorest sections of the society who need them..".

The MP is expected to deliver "a fresh lot of low cost houses"  to the Economically weaker sections of the society  during the year in the state.
