After a Pakistan court ordered the release of Zakiur Rehman lakhvi, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the US asked Islamabad to live up to its pledge on bringing all perpetrators to justice. “The Government of Pakistan has pledged its cooperation in bringing the perpetrators, financiers and sponsors of the Mumbai terrorist attacks to justice, and we urge Pakistan to follow through on that commitment,” State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said. In comments made before the latest reports from Islamabad indicating that lakhvi will remain in detention for 30 more days under a public security order, Psaki said the United States is monitoring reports on the Pakistani High Court’s pronouncement.
