Two minor girls were raped in two different incidents in north east Delhi, police said on Saturday. In the first case, a complaint has been lodged with the Mansarovar Park police against a 22-year-old man for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl several times. According to the complaint, the accused had allegedly befriended her through free mobile messaging app and had physical relations with her on various occasions. The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar.
According to the officer, the matter came to light after the girl disclosed her physical relation with Pawan to her parents. Following which girl’s parents lodged a complaint. On the basis of their complaint, a case under POCSO Act and rape was registered against Pawan. Pawan was later arrested and sent to jail.
“Initial investigation revealed that Pawan has sexually exploited the minor after promising to marry her. When the girl’s parents learnt about her closeness with Pawan, they asked her to end the relation,” said the officer. The girl, however, continued meeting Pawan and insisted on marrying him. Pawan was known to the girl’s family as he frequently visited their house.
The girl is a Class VII student at a Government school. In another case, an 11-year-old girl was raped allegedly by her neighbour in northeast Delhi’s Sunder Nagri near Nand Nagri on Friday. Police said the girl was alone when the accused entered her house and raped her. He even threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anybody about the matter. A case of rape was registered against the accused, identified as Jon Singh, who has been absconding after the crime.
