In a freak incident, a helper atop a truck was electrocuted in Ghaziabad. The incident occurred on Friday midnight when the helper came in contact with a high-tension livewire. He had climbed to the roof of the truck for a nap. The truck was parked near Rathi Steels limited and below an electric line supplying power to steel furnace units in the industrial belt.

Police said Prakash Singh (30), a resident of Madhya Pradesh, was working as the driver’s helper for a transport company running operations from the south side of GT Road Industrial Area.  “He was rushed to Government MMG Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. On the basis of papers found in his pocket, his residence was traced to Madhya Pradesh. His next of kin have been informed and his body sent for an autopsy,” said SO Vijay Nagar Har Dayal.

“Transporters have also been cautioned against parking their vehicles under high-tension cables,” said SP (city) Shiv Shankar Yadav.
