Traders’ body has refuted claims of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in which he said that the decision to postpone proposed hunger strike was taken on the request of several trader’s associations, the ‘Confederation of All India Trade’ (CAIT).
Kejriwal had announced earlier this month that he would sit on fast on March 31 if the ongoing sealing drive was not stopped. “We have enquired from all the trade associations of Delhi and found that no one has appealed him to postpone the fast, a release from CAIT stated.
“The decision to postpone is a setback to the trader and the reasons are being given a quite hollow and not acceptable at all,” it said.
The trader’s body has also demanded CM apologies to the traders and also seek his resignation for failing to save the interest of the owners of business establishments whose shops have been sealed by the municipal corporations.
Traders also questioned the intention of all the seven MPs who have maintained complete silence on the sealing issue. They should have come out to support the traders and take the issue to Central Government. Their silence is unacceptable and traders will be forced to Gherao Delhi CM and MPs if they do not take immediate steps, it said.
