Mumbai-based Total Presentation Devices is providing integrated state-of-the-art audio and video application and conferencing equipment solutions to many private and Government instituions. Deebashree Mohanty chats up Nandita Singgha about their expansion plans and how their new technology will help companies to reduce travel cost by 20 per cent

Video conferencing is not a new phenomena. It has been there for donkey’s years but it was not accessible to many companies as it was not cost effective. Many institutions couldn’t afford to indulge in such high-end technology equipment and hence they shyed away. But at Total Presentations, we want to change this outlook. We are developing a technology that can slash the existing costs of video conferencing equipment to one-fourth of existing available equipment in India and across the globe,” Nandita Singgha, managing director at Total Presentation Devices says.

The company is about to launch its proprietary product in the coming months for video conferencing which will directly compete with offerings from international tech majors. “I’ve always seen this as a challenge. We may be very technically sound nowadays but there is still a long way for us to go when one draws comparison with the West. With this technology we are hoping to change a lot of things in India,” Singgha tells you. For this driven entrepreneur, coming out with hard core technology solutions to ease travel expenditure and expediate work is the key.

She tells you how many Government organisations have also shown keen interest in her offerings. They know affordable video conferencing can be a huge plus in their day-to-day activities. “I am happy to see my technology being implemented in many companies all over the world. It is a proud moment for me that the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy have also taken up tech solutions by my firm. The latest entrant to our client list is the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for telemedicine solutions. With this advanced video conferencing facilities, AIIMS will train their doctors to new technical medical platforms via video conferencing and support on-live operation,” Singgha whose company has serviced more than 1 lakh clients since its inception in 1995, tells you.

Although she feels proud to represent her country at every popular global awards, Singgha is saddened that women are still not considered to be as tech friendly as their male counterparts. “It is another thing to be a woman entrepreneur, but when people learn my specialisation, they are baffled. I am happy but sad at the same time. There are many more stereotypes that I want to change,” she says.
