'Third Front a failed experience'

Published on:

Talks of the Third Front or federal front coming out victorious in the upcoming lok Sabha polls are useless as it is a tried and failed experience in India. A national party is the only alternative before people and the general mood in the country is in favour of the BJP, said former national president of BJP Venkaiah Naidu here on Saturday.

“Surveys are at their place, but we have to see the real situation. People are fed up with the UPA regime and their anti-people policies. In 2004, also some surveys had predicted that the NDA will form Government at the Centre, did that happenIJ Actually they have calculated different small parties’ seats and predicted about the Third Front. Will SP and BSP come togetherIJ Will lalu and JD(U) join handsIJ Will DMK and AIDMK support each otherIJ These things should also be considered while making opinions,” he said.

Naidu, who held a meeting with senior party leaders, including Yashwant Sinha and Arjun Munda to review preparations for the lok Sabha polls, said that the BJP would come out with a chargesheet against the Congress. “Interacting with the people from a cross section of society we will frame charges against the Congress for cheating the nation for over nine-and-half years. They have failed to fulfill any of their promises and the situation today has gone out of control,” he said.

“The economic condition of the nation is worsening day by day and despite economic experts like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and others in the Government, they have not been able to control the situation. Value of the rupee is going down, inflation is high and share market is nosediving. Onion prices in Delhi and other metro cities have touched `100. But it is not only about onions, each commodity is getting costlier,” Naidu said, adding that the Congress did not have any answer to the queries of the common man.

“In over nine-and-half- years of tenure, the UPA has proved to be a total failure, miserable, useless and worthless Government. They have to answer to queries of people. Give people solutions of their problems; else they will throw you out,” he added. Taking a dig at Congress’ situation, Naidu said that the grand old party was set to lose in four out of five States where Assembly polls would be held.
