While Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had his date with destiny on Saturday after having changed the political narrative of the Capital, his wife Sunita remained poised and said she was always certain of her husband’s achievement. As the families of the seven Ministers to be sworn-in travelled by Metro and later sat with the general populace at Ramlila Maidan, their happiness was evident but their simplistic aam aadmi persona struck a chord in the hearts of many.
When asked about the feeling of being a Chief Minister’s wife, Sunita said, “The feeling is not overwhelming. But it is OK. Our lives will continue to remain the same.” Although slightly intimidated by the huge crowd in the Metro, she said, “We had not expected such a large turnout of people for joining us during the Metro ride. Although the Metro was packed beyond capacity, we enjoyed the ride.” Kejriwal’s sister, Ranjana Gupta, who came for the ceremony from Haridwar, said Arvind had plans beyond politics. “He is here to serve the nation and not to do politics. He has been a determined person since his childhood.”
Kejriwal’s 70-year old father who is an engineer as well requested everyone to pray for Kejriwal’s success in governance. “Please pray for my son so that he is able to deliver the promises he has made to the people of Delhi.” His son Pulkit expressed happiness and said that finally all the hard work done by his father and other party workers had come to fruition.
MlA from Patparganj and urban development, PWD & Revenue Minister, Manish Sisodia’s wife said, “It is a joyous moment for us. Truth always wins. I have always trusted his decisions. Whatever he does will be for the betterment of aam aadmi.”
