A software engineer was shot at when he resisted a robbery bid in Sector 50 of Noida on Saturday. The victim, Ashish Jain (44), was returning from a temple with his sister-in-law Simpi Jain, his two daughters and Simpi’s two-year-old son.
Around 11.30 pm, two bike-borne assailants tried to snatch Simpi’s gold chain. Ashish retaliated, pushing both the robbers off the bike, a police official informed. Meanwhile, “one of the robbers fired a handgun towards Ashish and fled from the spot. The bullet pierced through his elbow and hit his shoulder. After two-hour-long combing, we have detained one of the suspects from Hoshiyarpur village,” said Rajkumar Mishra, CO City III.
The suspect is being investigated. Ashish was rushed to Kailash Hospital and he is now stable while others accompanying him have escaped unhurt. “The bike — reportedly stolen from Noida a few days back — which the robbers used in the crime, has been recovered from the spot. An FIR has also been lodged at Sector 49 police station,” he added.
