‘Ram Kapoor is an energy ball’
Tell us your role in Meri Dad Ki MarutiIJ
I play Jasleen Bhasin who loves to be called Jazzlin. She is Chandigarh ki Shakira and college boys are crazy for her. One of them is Sameer who is head over heels in love with her and wants to take her out on a date. After a lot of pursuing, when he finally manages to fix this date, he sneaks out with his Dad’s Maruti car which is a wedding gift to his sister. However, the car gets stolen and that’s how the mania starts.
How much can you relate to Jazzlin in real lifeIJ
I’m very outspoken like her. I am not the type to take things lying down. Jazlin is very spunky and spontaneous but I am a tantrum thrower. I enjoyed all the attention I got from my director and co-stars. At the end of the shooting they told me that Jazzlin was written for me.
How did you bag this roleIJ
I was giving auditions for Band Baaja Baaraat but that didn’t happen. later, I got a call from the production team of MDKM for this role. This was followed by more auditions and workshops.
How did you prepare for this roleIJ
I spent a lot of time in Punjab and observed the trend and culture of the State and also picked up the Punjabi lingo. I watched a lot of Punjabi movies and took my workshops very seriously. I staunchly believe that actors should do full research before the project goes on the floor.
Is this movie based on any real-life incidentIJ
Not that I have heard of. But its common for boys to lose their car on their first date.
How was your experience working with Ram KapoorIJ
He is a killer and super entertaining. He totally loves what he does. He doesn’t know that he is charming and that attracts women all the more. The moment he enters the sets, the women start talking about him and giggling. Ram is passionate, an energy ball, super funny, witty and a big foodie.
Were you made the butt of any jokesIJ
On my birthday, I cut the cake and the crew put it all over my face. I was not in the mood to work that day and my directors let me take the day off.
