Even though we are aware of the fallout of junk food, the craving is not likely to go away soon. To satiate this appetite, The Hard Rock Café on International Burger Day, unveiled the festival, Burger Tour.
Chef Cyrus Irani, the culinary director, tells you that over the years, consumer tastes have changed. “To begin with, it was the good old hamburgers; then came cheese burgers, then the vegetable component got added to the good old burger. With time, more and more sauces and frizzled onions and rich textures and flavours were added which have become the preferred choice today,” chef Irani explains and recommends the Tennessee BBQ Burger from Memphis.
The dual burst of flavours due to its two patties — BBQ green patty and the BBQ chicken patty — is a delight. The showstopper on this burger is the half-fried egg that is the last topping of the burger. The crunchy frizzled onions with BBQ sauce makes this burger lipsmacking.
The vegetarians need not be disappointed. For there is the Quesadilla burger. Capturing the flavours of its origins (Mexico) brilliant, this burger has a delectable patty, consisting of maize flour, sweet corn, beans, spices and vegetables — all this topped with tangy rich salsa with avocade gives this burger a tangy taste. For those who love the extra cheese, this burger makes for a must try since there is a generous helping of Swiss cheese.
The accompaniments don’t stop here. The burger also has nacho straws adding a crunch with every bite. The chef tells you that burger is sure to satisfy the Indians as they love spices. He, of course, is bang on target. Besides the fantastic taste, it is the spices and the rich aroma whaffing that makes this burger such a delight.
The menu also holds the New Delhi Burger which is an equivalent to the New Yorker. The all-vegetarian burger has an alu patty mixed with lentil and deep fried. A heaven for those who love fried. After all, a burger that doesn’t have anything fried is not worth even visiting. Despite the tangy tomato sauce and the fried patty, this burger offers little when it comes to taste — it is bland and doesn’t not reflect Delhi at all which is all about spices, masala and chatpata taste.
Then there are burgers from Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Colombia, France, Italy and even South Korea.
