A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing three stray puppies in a locality in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj (North) area. An FIR was registered after a resident lodged a complaint suspecting the person behind the killing of puppies. The matter came to light a week ago, when a 36-year-old woman, who lives in Vasant Vihar B Block informed police that body of a puppy found in a park located near her house. She told police that she and other residents used to feed milk to that puppy and a man, later identified as Ranvir, used to object that. In her written complaint, she suspected Ranvir behind the killing of the puppy.
“A police team immediately rushed to the spot, who took the body to a veterinary hospital in south Delhi. The postmortem was conducted and the accused was arrested from his house on the same day,” said a police officer. Ranvir, a part-time sweeper, who lives in the same locality with his family, told police that he had killed two more puppies, as they used to bark unnecessarily. He also said that he had beaten all the three puppies to death with a rod and
dumped their bodies in the park.
The bodies of two other puppies might have been eaten by other animals, police said.A case under Section 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. Further investigations are on, police added.
