Swamy wants new enquiry into Tharoor's stay in Dubai

Continuing his involvement in speaking on the death of Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress MP Shashi Taharoor, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said Sunanda Pushkar had sought an appointment with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and also had a meeting with her political secretary, Ahmed Patel eleven days prior to her death.

He told reporters in Bengaluru on Saturday that police had confirmed this and also wants a fresh probe into her death. He said, "Before leaving Delhi, I had shot off a letter to Home Minister Rajnath Singh asking for a fresh probe into the three-day stay of Tharoor, when he was a Minister, in Dubai with the Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar."

"When Shashi Tharoor was a Minister, he, on the account of eyewitnesses and what Sunanda had told Nalini Singh, had spent three nights in Dubai with Mehr Tarar. This raises the question of national security because it is alleged that she belongs to the ISI, although her role is not yet known and he was a Minister," Swamy added.

"Police has confirmed that Sunanda went out on January 16 to meet somebody. The license number plate of the car is visible in the closed circuit television camera. I also know that on January 6, Sunanda had a word with Ahmad Patel, which means eleven days before she was murdered. She had asked for an appointment to meet Sonia Gandhi," Swamy said.

He also revealed that Tharoor, during his visit to England, had accompanied a "prostitute" who often visited Russian consulate and later she was punished and thrown out from the job. "In England, he accompanied a prostitute who often visited Russian consulate and later she was punished and thrown out from the job," he said.

Swamy said he also suggested setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which should include members of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Enforcement Directorate, RAW and IBA, in view of the fact that the cause of death could have something to do with her threat of disclosure of the money laundering in the IPl scam.

"To conduct IPl probe, SIT needs to be expanded and include members of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Enforcement Directorate, RAW and IBA, in view of the fact that the cause of death could have something to do with Sunanda's threat of disclosure of the money laundering in the IPl scam," he said. Targetting AAP leader Kumar Vishwas for accusing Kiran Bedi of trying to influence Team Anna during the lokpal movement against attacking the BJP, Swamy questioned AAP for remaining silent when Bedi was with them and did not question her about trying to influence Team Anna during the lokpal movement against the BJP.

"These people who are accusing Kiran Bedi, they should have asked her about it. Why were they silentIJ They all were against BJP and they bore all these developments, and now they are sullying her image and raising voice with so-called secular people," he said. On Congress leader Digvijay Singh's comments that AAP is the B Team of the BJP and the Congress had "chosen a lesser evil" by supporting Kejriwal in forming the government in Delhi in 2013, Swamy said, "Digvijay is confused he should go to a psychiatrist. The fact is - because of so many people now leaving AAP and are joining the BJP, he thinks they are all B team, but anyone who accepts the BJP ideology is welcome provided he does not have corruption charges against him."
