Says Congress manifesto calls for its introduction
leader of Opposition in lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Saturday cautioned the traders in the Capital against the Congress saying it has announced in its manifesto to introduce FDI in retail. She said this would harm the interest of the small scale businessmen and deprive them of their livelihood. She was addressing a public meet in Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency that was largely attended by the trading community.
She came down heavily on the Congress-led UPA Government saying its two successive tenures have proved ‘fatal’ for the country. She accused the Government of being indifferent to the miseries of people and said the governance in the country had come to a virtual collapse. She held the economic policies of the Government responsible for ever-increasing price rise while she added that rampant corruption, deteriorating law and order situation had tarnished the image of the India in other countries.
Swaraj appealed the people of Chandni Chowk to vote for BJP candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan whom she described as an efficient leader who could solve the perennial issues of congestion and water crisis plaguing the area. later she also addressed a public gathering at Sadar Bazaar in Delhi Cantonment under New Delhi lok Sabha seat where the BJP has fielded Meenakshi lekhi as its candidate.
The BJP leader lamented that the present Government lacked proper vision. She said that the countdown had begun for the Government and that the 2014 elections would usher in a new era in the history of Indian politics.
“The condition of the country has gone bad to worse during the last 10 years. Value of money has gone down while inflation is setting new records. Poor people are reeling under acute crisis to meet their daily needs. The Government, on the other hand, has no time to take care of them. Its Ministers are indulged in rampant corruption which is evident from the 2G, CWG and coal block scams,” she said, adding the people of the country have made up their minds to vote BJP to power and make Narendra Modi the next Prime Minister of India.
