With Jammu & Kashmir reeling under the worst ever floods in decades, Sulabh International on Saturday donated Rs 20 lakh for the sake of relief and rescue of the affected persons. The cheque was deposited with the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the welfare of the flood victims.
“We are always there to share the grief and misery of those hit by a natural calamity of such a magnitude,” Sulabh Founder Dr Bindweshwar Pathak said in a statement. Sulabh had played a great role in the wake of floods and landslides in Kedarnath in Uttarakhand last year and adopted Deoligram village which became infamous as a village of widows, with a majority of men folk falling prey to the catastrophe.
Dr Pathak also took keen interest in ensuring relief and rehabilitation of victims of floods in Kosi River in Saharsa district of Bihar last year by organising special sanitation drive to keep off epidemics in the post-floods stage in State.
