SHALINI SAKSENA chats up with Dino Morea who was in the Capital recently to launch a sportswear chain
Given the fact that everyone talks about being fit, it is not surprising that more and more sportswear companies are opening shop. That sportswear is getting trendy keeping in mind the professional in mind, it is no longer just about something one wears for a workout. It is about being chic, so much so that one can go from the gym to a business meeting in them. The latest to join the list of brands is SuperDry Sport which opened its doors for Delhiites with actor-turned-producer Dino Morea to do the honours whose fitness mantra come with playing football.
He plays thrice a week in a league at night since it is convenient. But if there is no football, then it is 45 minutes to an hour of strength training at the gym. “Fitness or I should say sports came to me at an early age. As a kid, I took part in so many athletic competitions, be it was football, hockey or basketball. I also played tennis professionally for Karnataka in the Under-14 category. But then I just gave it up and started playing basketball. My parents really encouraged me to be physically active. So much so that now, if I don’t do anything and just laze around I don’t feel too good. I need to get at least a half hour of physical exercise and my day is done,” Morea says and tells you why he has not been seen doing movies off-late.
“It is not that I don’t love the industry. I love to be in front of the camera and act. It is just that the offers that were coming my way were not great. I didn’t want to dig my grave further because a few of my films didn’t do so great. I chose to pick up better scripts but nothing was really coming and decided to produce films that I would like to be part of. I made Jism 2 which gave me a learning experience on how a movie should be made,” Morea tells you, who has been working for the last three years on two fantastic scripts and both are ready. One he intends to act in, the other he will produce. For this, the actor is already in the process of choosing a cast. Hopefully, and his team will get the right people and in all probability the movie will go on the floor early next year.
Morea also tells you that it is very important for actors to have an alternative source of income. “They are only a handful of actors who fly and there are others who need to do other things. It is important to have something to fall back on. Being an actor opens doors to various businesses and opportunities. If one looks at them right and smart enough to pick opportunities, you can do well for yourself,” Morea says and adds that his association with the brand was a simple association. They associate me with fitness and sport and thence they thought this would be ideal for them,” Morea says.
The collection comes under the category of athleisure. “Besides being sporty, it is trendy. The entire collection is nice and comfortable. The collection is in keeping with that trend,” Morea tells you.
