A fire broke out at a purse factory in Central Delhi’s Shadipur area on Saturday evening. According to police, the incident took place at 5.50 pm at Shadipur depot, inside the Post Office lane.
The fire first broke out on the ground floor and then spread to the other two floors. Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. “It took two to three hours to seize the fire. Twelve people were injured in the fire and are admitted at RMl Hospital. Six people, including four women, who work as labourers in the factory have been reported dead,” said an official from the Fire Department. Prima facie it appears that the fire was caused due to a short circuit on the ground floor.
