She came into limelight after giving an award winning performance in Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi and went on to do mainstream commercial films like Desi Boyz, Yeh Saali Zindagi, Inkaar and I, Me Aur Main. Chitrangada Singh has become a popular name in tinsel town. The diva has now gone a step ahead and has forayed into small screen as a host in Channel V’s Gumrah season 3 first episode.
Singh has also unveiled the VithU app which is a unique mobile application made by the channel as an extension of the show. The application stores five important contact numbers. If one senses danger, he can press the power button twice and an alert message along with one’s location will be sent out to the five contacts.
When asked to name the five people who she’ll be adding in the SOS list, Singh said: “It depends where I’m. But generally speaking, I’ll add my husband, Jyoti Randhawa, my brother, Digvijay Singh, my father and my managers. My mother can’t barely hear her phone buzz, so I will politely exclude her from the list,” Singh tells you laughingly.
She stresses on the fact that the main reason behind her success is the effort of her manager, make-up artist and her pr agency.
In the glitz and glamour world of Bollywood, where every actress goes through a lot of ups and downs in their journey to stardom, the biggest challenge, Singh feels, is the insecurity. “Insecurity about work is a reality and almost all actors go through his phase every once in a while. losing out on a golden opportunity for the sake of your family or due to other reasons, is something which remains forever in your life as a guilt. We can just take a chance and learn along the way. You do mistakes and learn from it. I’ve made a few and have evolved in my journey,” Singh says.
A mother of five-year-old son Zorawar, Singh says that Malaika Arora Khan, a great inspiration for all working mothers in Bollywood, and Vidya Balan are super women!
“Vidya is breaking a lot of stereotypical rules in the industry and setting a new trend. The way she has carved a niche for herself in the industry is commendable. She leaves a great impression through all her performances,” Singh concludes.
