There is an adage — one can tell a lot from the kind of shoes one is wearing. But they say one should never judge a book by its cover. However, a recent study that was conducted by the researchers at the University of Kansas, has revealed that by examining the style, cost, colour and condition of the shoe, participants were able to guess 90 per cent of the owner’s characteristics. The research was published in Medical Daily.
According to Kapil Mahtani, CEO, Tresmode that even though one can tell a lot by a person by looking at their feet, what one zodiac sign considers to be a sexy shoe another might just consider a torture device. Each sun sign represents a certain personality with certain taste and thus the difference in taste in shoes. “In India, a sexy shoe will be something that looks fabulous without looking too flashy. This doesn’t mean no glitter or colour. One can have all of that and yet look classy.”
Hence, when it comes to the kind of shoes we wear, it is boils down to each to its own. The importance of comfort varies from person to person. Therefore, shoes are not just the ultimate accessory, but are also a reflection of the mood and the feelings one is in while getting dressed.
“There is probably something absolutely special about that specific pair of shoes for it to attract attention amongst the thousands of shoes in the market. This is exactly the reason why the shoes one wears become a window to the personality and a reflection of one’s individuality,” Mahtani tells you.
For example, a Sagittarius who is experimental in nature loves to take fashion risks and receiving compliments. Her preference — flats, ballerinas and peep toes. Similarly, a Gemini too is experimental and loves trends.
But, Sean McDowell VP, category creative director for Running, the man behind Nike’s latest running innovation — Nike Free Flyknit, has a slightly different take on this and tells you that he is not the kind of person who judge’s someone by their appearance. “However, I do occasionally see someone in an airport with an incredibly rare shoe or something very directional and I find myself giving them a little nod, because I support their choice in footwear.”
At Nike, it’s important to start with the voice of the athlete. listening to them and striving to help them set personal bests leads the company into revolutionary places which has recently launched Nike Free Flyknit, for men and women in the country.
A survey conducted said that a pair of shoes can be a window to the ‘sole’, providing a clear snapshot of an individual’s personality.
For example high-heeled shoes — uncomfortable looking shoes are worn by calm personalities while flip flop shoe buyers are liberal thinkers who opt for being thrifty. It’s not surprising that the concept of applying shoes and sun signs in the Indian market came about.
