Shiv Sena takes dig at Modi for targeting PM

Published on:

In a sarcastic attack on Narendra Modi for targeting the Prime Minister on the Independence Day, the Shiv Sena on Saturday said that the Gujarat Chief Minister would, as the future PM of the country, “have to solve” all the issues on which he had singled out Manmohan Singh for criticism in his Bhuj speech.

“If someone says that Modi has warmed the cockles of the Pakistanis’ hearts by indulging in a political gang war (against the PM) on such a day (Independence Day) which he ought not to have done, then he is not wrong, (When he succeeds Singh in office), Modi would have to solve all the issues on which he had indulged in tongue-lashing against the Prime Minister,” the Sena stated in its official mouth-piece, Saamana.

“We are confident that like Sardar Patel,  Modi — when he assumes office of power in New Delhi — would imprison all those looting the country; that he would drag the likes of Hafiz Saeed, Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon to India and hang them; that he would stuff crores and crores of rupees of black money stashed away in Swiss banks in a cargo plane and bring it back to India; that the return of black money to the country would usher in happy and lead to debt-free times for the poor and farmers in the country,” the Saamana editorial stated in a most sarcastic manner.

Carrying on in the same vein, the Saamana editorial stated: “We are also confident that with Modi at the helm of affairs in the country, the derailed economy would be restored to right path, that the dollar rates would slump vis-à-vis Indian rupee value, that with Modi firmly in the saddle, Pakistani would not dare intrude into the Indian territory and behead our soldiers or drown our soldiers a la INS Sindhurakshak manner. Modi is omnipotent. There should not be any doubt in the mind of anyone”.

“It is only Haif Saeed who will be able confirm if the rapid gunfire indulged in by Modi from the Kutch soil is giving sleepless night to Pakistanis. But, we have confirmed information that the Congressmen based in New Delhi have ordered sleeping pills for them,” the Sena stated in Saamana editorial that smacked of outright sarcasm. Concurring with the reservations expressed indirectly by veteran BJP leader lK Advani over Modi’s criticism of the Prime Minister on Independence Day, the Saamana editorial stated: “lal Krishna Advani has raised a question mark over the manner in which Modi had chosen to ridicule the Prime Minister on the Independence day. Advani is a torch of patriotism and he also has vast experience in public life. He should be credited for

taking the BJP to a height where it is today. He has always practised national politics. As a result, he reaches out to the entire country”. Having taken sarcastic dig at Modi in Saamana, it remains to be seen if Sena president Uddhav Thackeray would do amends in the coming days, as he did hours after his party official mouth-piece hit out at the Gujarat Chief Minister for “restricting his relief efforts in the rain-ravaged Uttarakhand only to the stranded Gujaratis” in June this year.
