A ‘dog killer’ was captured in South Delhi’s Green Park CCTV camera showing him first luring the street puppies and then slitting their throats.

The accused has yet not been identified. Humane Society International India (HIS/India) and Fauna Police have offered a joint reward of `1 lakh for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person caught in the video stabbing and hacking the animals.

On March 15, a PCR call was made to Hauz Khaz police station informing about the butchered puppies near Green Park metro station gate number 1. A team of police officials rushed to spot and found three puppies mercilessly slit. Also, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) working for animal rights visited the spot and rushed the puppies to a nearby veterinary clinic where the puppies were given immediate aid. The Delhi police also registered a case at Hauz Khas police station against unknown person for gruesome killing.

A police officer investigating the case said, “We collected a CCTV grab that showed a young man luring puppies… He also offered them snacks but the time those puppies came to eat the chips…he slit their necks with a knife.” “He also attacked dogs in the vicinity by the knife and then left the spot,” added the police officer. According to police officials it was found out that the young man after attacking the puppies moved towards Green Park market.

Meanwhile, a similar incident is reported to have occurred in Gautham Nagar where dogs were seen with stab wounds. Fauna Police volunteers suspect that it is the same person.

Managing Director of HIS/India N G Jayasimha said, “A man who is so barbaric as to mutilate puppies in an open street is nothing but a threat to the society. This incident exposes the violent nature of this man and it’s essential for the safety of the animals and the society that this man is put behind bars. Bringing this perpetrator to book will set precedence for future wrong doers.”
