Security forces kill two leT militants

Security forces have killed two lashkar-e-Tayyeba (leT) militants in an encounter in Rafiabad pocket of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday afternoon. Both the slain militants were Pakistani who had infiltrated into Kashmir in September last year in an eight-member group to carry out subversive activities in the region, police said.

Sources said that local police alongwith the Army and paramilitary personnel cordoned off Thakagund Village in the jurisdiction of Sopore Police Station after the receipt of specific input about the presence of militants there.

The search operation triggered an encounter that resulted to the death of two militants --Abu Saad and Abu Noman, both residents of Pakistan. A large quantity of arms and ammunition including two AK rifles and war-like stores were recovered from the encounter site.

Sources said "They were part of group of eight terrorists who had infiltrated in September last and carried out a number of attacks on security force in lolab-Watergam-Sopore belt.”
