Sasikala Pushpa, member of the Rajya Sabha, who was expelled from the AIADMK, is in for trouble as S Rajesh, a youth from Tirunelveli, filed a police complaint against her alleging that she had cheated him of Rs 20 lakh.
In his complaint filed with the Tirunelveli city police commissioner, Rajesh stated that Sasikala had taken Rs 20 lakh from him promising him a Government contract work.
"The money was handed over to Sasikala in two instalments last year in the presence of her husband lingeswara Thilagan. But when Rajesh asked her to return the money following her failure to get the contract, Sasikala intimated and threatened him," said Jeni, Rajesh's lawyer.
An official in the Tirunelveli Police Commissioner Office said a complaint against Sasikala has been received by the office and it was being looked into.
The Rajya Sabha MP was expelled from the party by AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa for anti-party activities and for bringing bad name to the party.
On Wednesday her husband lingeswara Thilagan and son Pradeep Raja had approached the Madras High Court seeking anticipatory bail, apprehending arrest.
According to the petitioners, they feared arrest by the Chennai Police for alleged offences under Section 294(b) (singing, reciting or uttering obscene song, ballad or words in public ), Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation ) of the IPC.
The petitioners also alleged that some persons who have a grudge against Sasikala have filed cases against them. "An FIR has been registered against us to put the MP in further distress and there by put an end to her political career," said the petitioners.
But sources in Chenai Police said no complaint has been received against the petitioners or FIR registered.
