Hundreds of inmates lodged in Hardoi District Jail created ruckus in protest against poor quality of food being served to them and the scheuled shifting of some inmates to some other jail. The matter was resolved only after the District Magistrate reached there and assured the inmates of providing quality food and stalling of the shifting of inmates.
On Saturday morning, after food was served, hundreds of inmates suddenly started protesting and created a ruckus by throwing food and utensils.
They also raised slogans against the jail administration demanding some senior officer should attend to their grievances failing which they would sit on an indefinite hunger strike.
The agitated prisoners also alleged that the jail administration was extending VVIP facilities to select inmates and had planned to shift some of them to a better prison.
