Raids by the Anti Corruption Bureau of on a number of premises belonging to a senior Andhra Pradesh Government official have yielded stunning results. The ACB officials have found mind boggling assets estimated to be more than Rs 800 crore during the search operations at 13 different places in three States belonging to the deputy transport commissioner, East Godavari district A Mohan.
The searches were conducted at many places in two States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka which continued for more than 48 hours. Officials said that the document value of various properties alone stood at Rs 100 to Rs 120 crore which could be far less than the market price.
“We are yet to open at least 12 bank lockers which could yield more assets and information”, a senior official of the ACB said.
A Mohan was arrested in Vijayawada and produced before the ACB court which remanded him to judicial custody.
The raids were carried out after keeping a close watch on A Mohan’s activities and his financial dealings. Sources said that he had transferred some of the assets to his name from the names of his in-laws at Bellary in Karnataka.
The assets found included jewelry, diamonds, precious stones and also documents pertaining to 10 different companies floated by Mohan in the name of his daughters. As the ACB also found the information of his financial dealings with a leading liquor trader Mallikarjun, the officials were questioning him also.
DSP A Rama Devi of the Central Investigation Unit of ACB, who led the operation said that the raids were conducted at Hyderabad, Nellore, Prakasham, Kakinada, Vijaywada, Bellary, Medak and Anantapur and some other places.
The search operation was still on and final figure of his assets were likely to be even bigger. This has already become the biggest catch in the history of the State as far as the action against
allegedly corrupt officials was concerned.
