After a no-holds-barred Congressional battle in California’s Silicon Valley, Indian-American challenger Ro Khanna has conceded defeat to fellow-Democratic Congressman Mike Honda.
Although several thousands of postal ballots still remained to be counted, Khanna concluded that it was an uphill task for him to overhaul Honda’s lead, which had increased on Friday to more than 4,000. This was in contrast to his earlier upbeat assertions, despite trailing Honda.
Khanna, a former Obama administration official who was backed by top executives of the tech world but not by the Obamas themselves, told his supporters in Fremont that he called Honda, the seven-term Congressman, and congratulated him on his victory.
