Repair work to the busy Moti Bagh flyover on Ring Road may spell traffic snarls for scores of commuters shuttling between west Delhi and south Delhi areas. The repairs will start from Saturday midnight and to facilitate this, half carriageway on both sides for the next 20 days. During this time, traffic will be discharged from the at-grade level, starting from the foot of the flyover.
Since the flyover witnesses over a lakh vehicles everyday and would drastically affect commuters along Ring Road and surrounding stretches, repairs will be carried out in the non-peak hours from 12 midnight to 6 am for the next 20 days. During this time, heavy goods traffic will ply on the flyover and general traffic will ply at-grade from both the starting and terminating points of Moti Bagh flyover.
Due to the ongoing repair work, Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) has issued an advisory for motorists to avoid Ring Road and Moti Bagh flyover between 12 midnight and 6 am to avoid travel time delays. Advisory traffic signages at appropriate locations will be placed to guide motorists and adequate traffic staff has been deployed to ensure smooth and uninterrupted flow of traffic. Motorists are advised to follow the diversions and obey instructions of the Traffic Police.
Currently, Moti Bagh flyover sees heavy traffic movement throughout the day and the diversion of traffic is expected to trigger jams from Dhaula Kuan till Nizamuddin Bridge and DND bridge every day. The Metro construction work in the area has already narrowed the space available at the grade level. Commuters will have only two options to bypass the Moti Bagh flyover — through Sardar Patel Marg and Rao Tula Ram Marg (RTR) flyover.
