Over a week after two men were gunned down in busy Rajinder Nagar area here, police claimed to have cracked the case with the arrest of two men from Uttar Pradesh.

lalaram (55) and Pawan (24), both residents of Rajinder Nagar, were arrested from Allahabad. lalaram had allegedly hatched the conspiracy to avenge the death of his son. On May 14, two men —Ramcharan and lakhan lal — were gunned down at Shankar Road in New Rajinder Nagar. A case was registered and several teams were formed to nab the accused.

Raids were conducted at the possible hideouts in Delhi and NCR and on the basis of technical surveillance and secret information, the accused were finally apprehended by the central district police team from Allahabad (UP). Pawan was using around  7-8 numbers and five mobile phones interchangeably.  The special team was tracking the movements of the  suspect’s numbers and relayed them real-time to their teams  stationed at different places. On questioning, lalaram said that his elder son Udai had died while returning from a birthday party on December 26 last year organised in the house of the deceased Ramcharan.

“At the party, Udai got into a brawl with deceased Ramcharan, lakhan lal and others after which he stormed out of the birthday party.  Mysteriously Udai died in an accident on the way home. A case was registered at Inderpuri police station,” a senior police  official said.  lalaram and Pawan held the duo responsible for the death of Udai and were waiting for an opportune moment to eliminate them. “Further probe in the  matter is on,” he said. The suspects studied the route taken by Charan on a daily basis and laid traps.  They did a dry-run for the shootout and intercepted him last Thursday.
