Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday mounted a bitter attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that the RSS and BJP people would create communal tension in Bihar in their bid to win the election. “They had been doing this in other States too,” he alleged.

In his first ever political rally which was originally billed as a function to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar at Ramnagar in West Champaran, he dubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a feku (braggart).

Rahul lashed out at the “suit-boot ki sarkar” and said Modi and his suited booted friends would come only to loot the people, snatch away their lands and deprive them from jobs.

“If BJP wins here in Bihar, Modi’s friends in suit boot will come here from Delhi and Gujarat and will say they liked the land here, grab it and throw out the farmers. They will take away land but will not give jobs to you. They have already ordered that those who do not know the local language in Maharashtra would not be allowed to work,” Rahul said in his brief speech.

The top leaders of the allies were also supposed to attend the rally but they did not. While RJD supremo lalu Prasad had refused to go there due to his prior commitments, Nitish changed his programme lately and preferred to stay away. lalu sent his son Tejaswi Yadav who sat on the left of Rahul, JD(U) was represented by KC Tyagi. The host of the rally was Congress.

Addressing the impressive gathering, Rahul made reference of two Gujaratis. He said Mahatma Gandhi who donned suit came to Champaran and adopted dhoti once for all while there is one person who claimed beginning his career as tea vendor now wears expensive suits.

“This Government does not belong to poor. This is a suit boot wali sarkar. The PM calls suited booted people to discuss poverty and unemployment and thinks that they will solve all the problems,”

he said.

In a Modi style, Rahul also asked people if they got `15 lakh in their bank accounts, if they got the jobs, inflation came down and sugar mills in Champaran reopened. No hand was raised.

He went on to add, “Feku thaa, Hai” (He was a braggart and he remains so).

The Congress heir apparent also raised the scams in MP and Rajasthan and said Modi claimed he would eliminate corruption. “Sushma Swaraj is protecting lalit Modi and her daughter working for him while Modi says na khaoonga, na khane doonga. This is hypocrisy,”

he said.

Earlier Tejaswi, Tyagi besides senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Meira Kumar also addressed the rally and appealed to the people to defeat the designs of the BJP and support Mahagathbandhan.
