launching a scathing attack on the Delhi Government over the ongoing water and power crisis in the national Capital, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, along with several party leaders including Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken, took out a torch procession on Saturday from Samta Sathal to Rajghat.

Gandhi lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of using lies and falsehood to make political gains. “It is an age of internet, selfies… In India, Modiji & Kejriwalji think they can fool people everytime. The country is suffering and PM Modi is celebrating,” Gandhi said. Criticising the Modi Government, Gandhi further said on the one side farmers are dying in Maharashtra and latur whereas the Modi Government is celebrating with Bollywood stars at India Gate its second anniversary.

Taking a dig on the Delhi Government, he further Gandhi said he still remember when Kejriwal cut the power lines but now where is heIJ While narrating the situation of sanitation workers of Delhi, he said Kejriwal did not show any support towards the workers. “When MCD workers went to Delhi CM to put forth their grievances, the CM said he can give you 1 month salary, and can’t do anything more. Main jhooth bolke rajneeti kar hi nahin sakta hoon, mere andar ye hai hi nahin. I indulge in politics based on Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology, I can never indulge in politics of lie and false promises,” said Gandhi.

“We do not need any public relation companies to publicise our work among public. The AAP Government and the Modi Government have spent crores of rupees in advertising but the Congress Government does not require PR companies because it is the Government of poor people,”said Gandhi.

However, when the protest march was on, the Delhi Police stopped the Congress workers from using torches (mashal) or lanterns during their ‘Mashaal Juloos’.

The Congress said “constant clashes” between AAP and BJP, and Kejriwal’s “habit” of locking horns with the Centre on each and every issue have led to power and water crises in the city.

Delhi Congress president Ajay Maken had on Friday called on party workers to congregate at Rajghat and participate in the rally to boost strength.

While the Congress organised a massive rally in Delhi to corner the AAP Government over power and water crisis, senior AAP leaders launched a counter attack. Party leaders including Kapil Mishra, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chaddha and Ashutosh assembled at the Delhi Secretariat to welcome Gandhi’s Mashaal Rally.
