After an 18-day vacation abroad during which his party had to confront several important issues like finalising nominee for presidential poll and its stand on the launch of GST, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday returned home. Most of the political activities he commented through social media and on his twitter handle ever since he flew to Italy on June 13 where he also celebrated his 47th birthday on June 19. Rahul spent a long vacation with his ailing maternal grandmother, family members.

The last time he flew out of the country was in March, when his mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi was under going medical treatment. Prior to that, he went abroad in the New Year while was vacationing abroad. The Congress vice-president is known to often take trips out of the country for personal reasons, details of which are rarely known.

last month, he left the party,  just when the MP farmers killing issue was at political centre stage and several political development which required his full presence as the Opposition parties posed a united face. Though Rahul kept on attacking the NDA Government and PM Narendra Modi, he however missed the real political activities which kept the Opposition united until the announcement of Ram Nath Govind as presidential candidate that brought rift from one its major alliance partners Nitish Kumar led JD(U).

Another major decision for which Rahul left his party in lurch over deciding the party’s action on GST scheduled to begin with great pomp and show by the Centre in Parliament. Rahul Gandhi, who is poised to take over as the national president of the Congress party later this year, could only attack the PM over the decision for rolling GST without groundwork and referred the midnight Parliament event as Tamasha.
