PoS devices in ration shops by March 2017: CM

Aiming to check pilferage in the food distribution system, fair price shops across the national Capital will be equipped with point of sale (PoS) machines by March next year, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday.

The GPS-based system will help in keeping track of commodities sent from godowns to the shops and the amount received. Ration card beneficiaries will also be linked with the Aadhaar biometric system, he said.

It will pave way for speedy inclusion of people, who are in actual need of such benefits, in the public distribution system and the work will be completed by March 31, 2017, he told a Press conference.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal also announced that around 17,000 guest teachers working with Delhi Government schools will get fixed monthly salaries of Rs 32,000-Rs 34,000.

At present guest teachers get daily wages in the range of Rs 700-900 per day and have no weekly-offs. Their monthly earnings come around Rs 17,000 to Rs 20,000. Teachers have been demanding regularisation, fixed salaries and leave benefits. A committee formed by the Delhi Government to look into their demands  has recommended fixing the salaries as well as increasing it to the range of Rs 32,000-34,000 per month. It has also recommended providing eight casual leaves and weekly offs to these teachers, a source said.

The committee was headed by Principal Secretary (Finance). The recommendations will now be placed in the Cabinet meeting next week for approval.

“A decision in this regard will be soon taken by the Cabinet. We are also working to regularise them and the file pertaining to that decision is being sent to the lt-Governor once again,” said the CM.
