BJP patriarch lK Advani on Saturday hoisted the national flag at his residence and maintained that the self-confidence Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Government had about the country’s future was a result of the trust of the large population of the country on the workers of the party.

“Today he (Modi) laid emphasis on the fact that his and his Government’s self-confidence emanates from the trust and confidence of such a large population of the country in BJP workers. I also feel so,” said Advani.

Besides Advani, several BJP leaders, Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Minister MA Naqvi also unfurled the Tricolour at their residences and celebrated the Independence Day. Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley congratulated people on the occasion of the 69th Independence Day.

BJP president Amit Shah, who hoisted flag at the BJP headquarters here, urged the people of the country, especially the party workers, to pledge themselves to help create a strong India under the leadership of Modi.

Shah paid rich tributes to freedom fighters who fought for the Independence of the country and exhorted partymen to rededicate themselves to creating a new and great India. “let us again rededicate ourselves to the nation and move forward shoulder-to-shoulder under the leadership of Narendra Modi in creating a new and great India,” said the party president.

On his part, Advani expressed concern over the disruptions caused in the Parliament and hoped that work in the coming sessions would carry on normally as the improvement witnessed towards the end of this session.

Advani said today was the second year of the political change that took place last year and people had a lot of hopes for the future years, even as the self-confidence of the country has improved.

“Today, the second Independence Day has been completed and whatever the Prime Minister said earlier, he has reiterated it. There was also more firmness in the pledge,” he added.

“I believe that as people see changes in the country, in accordance with that, the hopes they have kindled towards the future of the nation will also be further strengthened. I am sure everyone will join in accomplishing those commitments,” he said.

In his message, the BJP veteran said, “People have lot of hopes. The self confidence in the country has increased a lot and all are awaiting the coming years.

Asked about the disruptions in Parliament and the concerns expressed by the President, Advani said that he had rightly expressed his concern at the Parliament session after hearing about it from them.

Pointing to Modi’s speech from the ramparts of Red Fort, Union Transport Minister Gadkari said the Prime Minister had expressed commitment to work for the development of villages, poor, workers and farmers and in the last one year, he had also implemented many schemes for their welfare.

Naqvi congratulated the people on the occasion. He said the message and resolve was that the country should move ahead on the path of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

BJP general secretary Ram Madhav tweeted, “‘Clean India’-Swachchh Bharat to ‘Cleanse India’ of corruption - the journey of Modi Govt for Shresth Bharat continues.”
