BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have consented to share the dais at the inauguration ceremony of Sardar Patel Museum on Tuesday in Ahmedabad, said Union Minister Dinsha Patel on Saturday.

Patel, who is also the chairman of Sardar Patel Memorial Society, clarified, “Putting political differences aside, we have tried to organise a function to pay tribute to the great leader of our country.

“When I called up the Gujarat Chief Minister to attend the function, he immediately accepted the invitation and confirmed to share dais with the Prime Minister,” he said. Manmohan Singh emphasised that in such an important function, the Chief Minister of the respective State should remain present irrespective of his party, Patel said, adding that the Prime Minister approved the invitation only after seeing Modi’s name in it.

Patel added that as many as 6,000 people were invited to attend the inaugural ceremony of Sardar Patel National Museum. “All the Members of Gujarat legislative Assembly and Members of Parliaments from Gujarat have been invited irrespective of their parties,” he said.

Recently, heritage building of Sardar Patel Memorial, constructed by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan, was renovated at an estimated cost of `30 crore. For the purpose the Central Government had approved `17 crore too.

On October 29, Manmohan Singh will arrive at Ahmedabad Airport at 5.20 pm. He will reach Sardar Patel memorial in Shahibag area at 5.30 pm.

He will unveil two statues. While one statue features ‘three barristers’ — Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru sitting together — the other statue features Sardar Patel in standing position with two maps of India on two sides.

The Prime Minister will also watch the 3D laser show for 15-20 minutes before leaving for the airport.
