Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his home-State Gujarat on Wednesday where he would attend at least three functions right from early morning to late evening in South Gujarat town Valasad, mountain town Junagadh in West Gujarat (Saurashtra) and at the State Capital Gandhinagar in North Gujarat.
Sources in the State protocol department said that the the Prime Minister would kick-start a day long visit to the State from Surat where he would land in morning and straight away go to Valsad town and dedicate more than 2 lakh houses to beneficiaries under Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana.
From South Gujarat’s farthest town, he will fly to another corner of the State at mountain town Junagadh in Saurashtra region. There he would inaugurate Rs 700 crore newly constructed civil hospital and medical college building. Before leaving for New Delhi at 7 pm, Modi will also attend a convocation ceremony of Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU) at 5.30 pm at the State capital Gandhinagar situtated in the northern part of the State.
GFSU is the brainchild of PM Modi. In fact he laid the foundation stone of the university’s state-of-the-art building in sector-9 of Gujarat’s capital when he was Gujarat Chief Minister. Over the short period, GFSU has emerged as one of the most reputed educational institutions in the country.
Apart from official programs, Modi’s visit would have political significance also, especially in wake of upcoming 2019 lok Sabha polls. If sources in Gujarat BJP have to believe, Modi would make it a point to meet important leaders of South Gujarat and Saurashtra at Surat and Junagadh respectively and take stock of the situation for the saffron party in these two important regions. On his arrival at Gandhinagar, he will also meet Gujarat BJP president Jitu Vaghani and other important functionaries of state BJP unit.
BJP had won all 26 lok Sabha seats in Gujarat in the 2014 lok Sabha elections which ensure BJP’s Government at the centre. To repeat similar feat, Modi and another son-of-the-soil Amit Shah will not leave single stone unturned.
It is worth mentioning that Modi was to attend all these three function on July 20 but because of incessant rains in the thid week of the last month the Prime Minister’s visit postponed.
