Place CAG report on ads before public: BJP to Govt

Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay and leader of Opposition in Assembly Vijender Gupta on Saturday demanded the Delhi Govern-ment to place the CAG report on advertisement before the people of the national Capital.

Addressing a Press conference, BJP leader Vijender Gupta alleged that the CAG has forwarded its Audit Report to the Delhi Government on the financial irregularities of the Government during the period 2015-16 but Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia did not submit the report before the House and twice lied that this report has not been received by the Government.

“The Government did not want to make public the reports on the Government advertisements and other bungling. Hence in order to avoid debate in the House, the Deputy Chief Minister mislead the legislative Assembly. According to the rules this report must have been tabled and debated in the House,” he said.

Gupta said that when the leader of the Opposition asked the Speaker and Deputy CM whether they have received this report on August 24, 2016, then the latter lied before the House that they have not received the report. “By doing so he has breached the privilege of the House and failed to discharge his constitutional obligation.

A case for breaching the privilege of the House be filed before the Privilege Committee against the Deputy CM but on the contrary the Government wants to discourage the Opposition by threatening to file case of breach of privilege against the leader of Opposition,” Gupta said. BJP MlAs Om Prakash Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan were also present. While Upadhyay said that if the Government did not announce a special session of Vidhan Sabha to table the CAG report before the people, the BJP will call a lok Vidhan Sabha at Jantar Mantar.
