Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday announced Patanjali Ayurved’s plan to reach out to over 30 lakh stores by next year and said that the swadeshi company would also resort to e-commerce next year to improve its market presence.

Baba Ramdev said this in Guwahati on Saturday while announcing the Patanjali Ayurved’s plan to set up a production unit, ‘Patanjali Herbal and Mega Food Park’ in Assam’s Sonitpur district and hinted that Patanjali’s much awaited apparel brand would also promote three of Assam’s most famous silks — Eri, Muga and Pat Silk.

“We have a plan to reach out to over 30 lakh stores by next year. At present Patanjali products are available to close to ten lakh stores,” said the Yoga Guru. He said that apart from these ten lakh stores, Patanjali has about 5,000 retail stores under its belt across the country.

The Yoga guru also said that the Swadeshi company would also go for e-commerce next year to enhance its market presence. “However, our e-commerce mode will be different than the existing e-commerce companies available in the country. We are going to make available our products to the clients’ doorstep but we are not going to resort to discounts for this,” he said.

“Most of the e-commerce companies like the amazon.com, snapdeal.com etc are running in loses. They resort to giving heavy discounts and ultimately the company has to suffer loses. Patanjali products are already priced low and we are not going to give any discounts for selling our products. Patanjali will make their products available to the doorstep but at a cost and one has to pay for the service,” he said.

Asked about the much talked about apparel brand of Patanjali, Baba Ramdev said Patanjali’s target is to capture the apparel market of India, which is now mostly dominated by the foreign brands. “We are going to tread in textiles and garment sector of India in a big way. The import in textiles and apparel market is close to Rs25 million to Rs30 million crore at present. Our plan is to capture at least Rs50,000 crore to Rs1 lakh crore of these apparel market by next five years,” he said adding that Patanjali is also going to promote the famous silks of Assam — Eri, Muga and Pat silk.

“We are going to help the artisans involved in rearing and making these silks of Assam. We would also help the locals marketing their silk products in international market through our channels,” said the Yoga guru.

Baba Ramdev said that Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will lay the foundation stone of the proposed food park at Balipara area, located to over 150 kms from Assam’s capital town Guwahati, in Sonitpur district tomorrow.

He said that the production unit will be one of the biggest one and that it will have the capacity to roll out about one million Matric Tonnes of Patanjali Ayurveda products annually. “This will give direct employment to over 5,000 youth of the state and would benefit several thousand others indirectly,” he said. He added that the proposed unit is expected to roll our close to 10 million tones Patanjali products every year.
