A day after his hug-and-wink act, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that only way to build a nation was by harnessing love and compassion of people.
And the Congress said that Modi does not have problem in hugging Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif during his unscheduled visit to the neighboring country but lacks the grace in hugging own countrymen. It said that while Rahul spoke in his debate about issues concerning the nation, Modi remained hooked to attack only Opposition. It also alleged that the BJP is trying to make a ‘lynchistan’ out of Hindustan.
Taking to Twitter, Rahul said debate in Parliament on the no-confidence motion was about the Prime Minister using “hate, fear and anger” in the hearts of some people to build his narrative, and the Congress countering that through love and compassion.
“The point of debate in Parliament.. PM uses hate, fear and anger in the hearts of some of our people to build his narrative. We are going to prove that love and compassion in the hearts of all Indians, is the only way to build a nation (sic),” he said.
After concluding his speech, Rahul walked across the aisle to where the Prime Minister was sitting and hugged him, capping his blistering attack on Modi. The Prime Minster shook Gandhi’s hands but ignored his call to stand so that he could hug the BJP leader. The Congress chief, however, embraced him as he remained seated.
Giving a clarification on the French ambassador issue, former Union Minister Anand Sharma said Rahul Gandhi never asked French President for classified information and the same has been authenticated by French Government which too issued a statement that only classified information can’t be revealed.
“One is classified information, one is commercial information which would also deal with parameters and price of aircraft. During the meeting with French President, where myself and the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh were present, on specific query from Rahul Gandhi if there is any objection on part of French to disclose price of the aircraft, French President clearly said there is no condition on their part,” Sharma took to Twitter to clear the air over French Government statement.
After Rahul Gandhi’s speech in lok Sabha, the French Foreign Ministry put out a statement on the security pact but did not refer to the discussions between Rahul Gandhi and French President during his visit this year. The statement said there was a 2008 agreement on classified information “that could impact security and operational capabilities” of the defence equipment of India or France. The French Government’s statement did not, however, spell out if the purchase price of the fighter jets was also classified information under this pact.
At the AICC briefing, party spokesman Jaiveer Shergill said that BJP is working overtime to break the social fabric of the country and enjoying the moments. “BJP is working round the clock to ensure Hindustan becomes a lynchistan. It’s Ministers garland lynch accused at functions. BJP is the voice of the mob that runs amok,” Shergill said.
