The White House regards the close working relationship that President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Narenda Modi have developed over the past year and a half as “a good thing for our two countries”.
“It’s a good thing for our two countries. It’s a good thing for the citizens of our two countries,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said on Friday, stressing: “I would expect the President will continue to look for ways to strengthen the relationship not just between the two leaders, but between our two countries during his final year in office.”
While making the comment in reply to a reporter’s question on the transformed bilateral relationship, Earnest pointed to how the last meeting between Obama and Modi in Paris played an important role in concluding the agreement on climate change.
