At an annual political jamboree where Republican leaders vied with one another to slam President Barack Obama and his policies, louisiana’s Indian-American Governor Bobby Jindal went a clear step further by labelling him the “worst President” of his lifetime.
“We have long thought and said this President is a smart man; it may be time to revisit that assumption. Or at least to make a distinction between being book smart and being truly wise,” Jindal said in his address to the Conservative Political Action Conference in suburban Washington.
Recalling his earlier description during that Obama was “the most liberal and most incompetent President in my lifetime ever since Jimmy Carter”, Jindal remarked to cheers from the conservative audience: “It is no longer fair to say he (Carter) was the worst president of this great country in my lifetime. President Obama has proven me wrong.”
At a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin is invading Ukraine, the American President wants to downsize the US military, Jindal charged, commenting that Obama does not believe that a strong America leads to a peaceful, more stable world, while a weak America leads to instability.
Jindal also hit out at Obama’s policies on a broad front, including his handling of the economy, saying this president is tryingto redefine success in America by dependence upon Government.
The two-day conference featured a host of Republican Governors and lawmakers who are thought to be eyeing a presidential run in 2016.The speakers included Governors Rick Perry (Texas) and Chris Christie (New Jersey), former Governors Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin, Senators Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, Representative Paul Ryan, former Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Senator Rick Santorum. Jindal is also regarded as a possible contender.
