Now Trump slams Hillary's Indian-American aide

Published on:
Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, who has mostly been targeting his political rivals thus far, opened a new line of attack on Friday by slamming Hillary Clinton’s Indian-American aide Huma Abedin in the wake of the Democratic front-runner’s escalating private email server controversy. At a rally in Massachusetts, Trump charged that Abedin, who served as Deputy Chief of Staff while Clinton was Secretary of State, used to receive classified information which she then shared with her “sleazebag” husband, former Democratic lawmaker Anthony Weiner. Abedin is currently Vice Chairman of Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Trump who has been accusing Clinton of compromising official secrets by using her private email server and projecting that she would end up in jail surprised political pundits by taking aim instead at Abedin and her husband, who had to give up his Congressional seat in the wake of a sexting  scandal. “It (classified documents) all sort of came through Huma,” Trump thundered. “Who is Huma married toIJ One of the great sleazebags of our time, Anthony Weiner. Did you know thatIJ She’s married to Anthony Weiner.”
“Now, these are confidential documents, she’s married to this guy, and guess what happens to Anthony WeinerIJ” Trump quizzed, adding: “A month ago, I see he went to work for a public relations firm.”
“So she’s married to a bad guy. I’ve known Anthony Weiner for a long time,” Trump charged, adding: “Do you think there’s even a 5 per cent chance that she’s not telling Weiner, now of a public relations firm, what is coming acrossIJ I don’t think so.”
At some of his recent outings, Trump has sought to compare Clinton with disgraced former CIA Director David Petraeus, saying the latter had paid a much higher price for a far lesser crime. “His life was destroyed for two per cent of what Hillary did,” says Trump about the former four-star general who was sentenced to two years’ probation and fined $100,000 after providing classified information to his mistress and biographer.
Reacting to the latest Trump offensive, a Clinton spokesman said: “He should be ashamed of himself, and others in his own party should take a moment to stand up to him and draw the line for once.”
