Many speciality restaurants like Gulati’s and Bercos have had a HD menu for decades but it is quite another thing for established high end restaurants like lodi or Spice Market in Saket for that matter, to start this offering. The speciality cuisine restaurant, loved by many due to location, has recently launched its home delivery options for up to 8 km. The menu is exhaustive, the food great and the packaging fresh. Could you ask for moreIJ Chef Elam Singh Rana says it is an innovative step which the owners are hoping it reaps rich dividends.
“In the Delhi summers, people are unwilling to venture out of their homes. Eating out during the day time takes a serious plunge in May, June and July. We wanted people to enjoy their favourite dishes in their comfortable environs. We have received a splendid response so far,” the chef says. So, what has made it to the “innovative” home delivery menu cardIJ
“There are a few salads that we have added to this menu. The raw papaya, shallots, runner beans and coriander leaves with cracked peanuts in chilli is a hot sale during peak summer months. So is the case with our in-house speciality chicken, lime and barley broth soup which is soothing and appetising at the same time. We have a lot of orders coming in for our chargrills as well,” he informs.
The mince mutton kebabs served with spicy green chutney are a must try if you have a thing for meat. The seekh kebab is soft and tender with just the right amount of spices in it. It is delivered piping hot to make the flavours more long lasting. Chicken lovers can opt for the regular chicken tikka marinated overnight with cardamom, cashewnuts and cheese.
Next up are the appetizers which offer sea food specialities like scallops, prawns and calamari. There is plenty in it for the vegetarians as well. The assorted mushrooms and the stuffed chillis are a hot favourite. But if there is a promise in this segment, why were restaurants delaying their presence in this fieldIJ “People were not sure if their dish would arrive as fresh and as hot as they would have liked. Many would keep away from ordering ice creams and cold desserts thinking the ice cream would melt in transit. “But that is not the case. We take extra caution in delivering cold items cold! The onus is on us to ensure that the customer is satisfied with what he has ordered,” chef Elam says.
The almond bread pudding with fig ice cream came packed in an insulated jar inside an ice holder! So, everytime you are hungry, call for good food and eat at home!
