Nitish calls for unity to defeat BJP in forthcoming polls

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday exhorted the JD(U) rank and file to help implement his seven resolves and take the policies of the Government to the common people.

Addressing them at a meeting of the State executive body at his residence, Nitish hit hard at the BJP and said the party was still trying to create misunderstanding with its ‘divisive’ politics even though its ghar wapsi, beef and patriotism versus anti-national planks utterly failed in Bihar.

“We are committed to fostering the unity among anti-BJP parties and we are working on this line to bring like minded secular parties in one fold and defeat BJP in the ensuing elections in some States,” the CM said without mentioning about his efforts in the poll bound States.

He criticised BJP form taking no action against the accused in the Muzaffarnagar communal riots and seeking support from the person who brought resolutions in favour of Afzal Guru in J&K Assembly. On the contrary, he added, the JD(U) and RJD took action against their erring legislators. “We have a zero tolerance policy on discipline and there is no compromise with rule of law,” Nitish said.

He also felicitated his poll strategist Prashant Kishor and thanked him on behalf of grand alliance for his successful strategies. The CM also announced that membership drive will start from June 5.

The Saturday meeting which was attended by all the MPs, legislators, district presidents and other office bearers also discussed the role of the party in the implementation of Nitish Kumar’s seven resolves. The CM asked them to gear up for implementation of the liquor ban from April 1 and make the resolve a success.
